I love that this year’s Pushcart Prize edition is XL, which makes me think of Magic Mike XXL, the masterpiece of 2015 (seriously). I heard from Oscar Villalon at Zyzzyva that my story “Dog Years” received a Special Mention, and when I went to look it up in the back of the book, I saw that “Consider this Case” from The Missouri Review had also received a Special Mention. After 12 years of publishing short fiction, seeing two stories listed there in one year was a nice moment. It was fun to see my name right below Ursula K. Le Guin, and alongside so many short story writers I admire.
