Just got copies of Provocation Green in the mail in the Fall 2009 issue of The MacGuffin, a literary magazine published by Schoolcraft College.

Provocation Green is one of those rare stories I’ve written based on a dream. As a rule, writing a story this way is a bad, bad idea. But this dream was so vivid and Wonka-esque, and stayed me with me so completely through the next day that I couldn’t help but take a crack at it. Not only was the particular shade of green in the dream remarkable — but I couldn’t stop thinking about the name Provocation Green.

I remember my dreams most of the time, but I wish there were more totally random ones like this, that have nothing to do with work stress or anxiety. I still have dreams that I’m failing math class. Now that’s a thrilling story.
